LD Eng worked with closely with Woodlands Edge Investments and Civilworx to bench a steep site into flatter
lots, suited to the first home buyer market in the Wallan area. Challenging ground conditions were overcome by proactively managing the soil quality on site withing the earthworks process.
TThe site is located with easy access to the Hume Highway, within 5 mins of the Wallan town centre and close to the
thriving Donnybrook/Cragieburn employment areas. The design and planning process involved negotiation with local authorities and VicRoads over upgrading existing gravel roads (Taylors Lane & Rowes Lane) to an urban standard, water sensitive treatment measures, and drainage discharge from the site. Further negotiation was also required for the relocation of aboriginal / cultural heritage artifacts prior to construction of certain stages.
What we did
LD Eng designed and documented for 266 lots including external works comprising of road upgrades and retarding
basins. The initial sewer strategy for the area required a pump station to service the western catchment in Wallan,
however with negotiations with YVW, LD Eng managed to arrange for construction of a short and deep length of sewer through the ridgeline to eliminate this requirement. The site was serviced more efficiently and provided a better economic outcome for all stakeholders.
LD Eng managed to ensure project completion dates were achieved as per the Client’s expectations and within the budget.
